‘The end begins’ with the start of Season 7 because (sadly), as per creators David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, the series will feature only one more season thereafter. The series became more gripping from Season 6 and apparently, a lot has happened till the seasonal finale of the sixth season. The seventh season of Game of Thrones is all set to be aired in mid-2017 and excitement levels are rising as we are approaching it. Fans have always been thrilled to watch their favourite mythological-drama, and those 55-60 minutes worth of each episode (out of ten episodes in all) are compelling enough to raise the anxiety levels. Regrettably, the upcoming season will feature merely seven episodes, and fans are a little annoyed.
Let us start off with the plot recap of Game of Thrones Season 7 Spoiler. With nearly 9 million viewers worldwide, the finale for season 6 was undoubtedly one of the most calming-yet-electrifying episodes till date. So much happens in those sixty minutes and at the end, the audience is left with a thirst for more. So, yes, excitement is mandatory to rise as we draw close to June. Cersei has played her sly bit and has managed to get all of her foes under one roof (i.e. Sept of Baelor). The High Sparrow, Queen Margaery, Loras Tyrell and Mace Tyrell and other people near the Sept are killed with the infamous Wild Fire. There is an explosion that leads to the destruction and demolition of the Sept of Baelor killing (apparently) everybody inside. Tommen, on witnessing the explosion, jumps to his death. Cersei claims the Iron Throne to herself and becomes the Queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Certainly, with Jaime’s expressions, we are pretty clear that he does not like it. He realises that he was sent to Riverrun only to divert his attention from Cersei’s evil plans. In the north, Jon is being hailed as the king after he manages to reclaim Winterfell from Ramsay Bolton with the help from the Free Folk, Tormund (Wildlings) and Littlefinger’s army. Melisandre is banished by Jon for burning Princess Shireen. Arya manages to kill Walder Frey and hence ticks him off his list. Bran is all set to become the Three Eyed Raven and is the sole person who knows the truth about Jon Snow. Across the Narrow Sea, Daenerys sets off for Westeros along with an army (and Varys, Tyrion and her dragons, of course).
When asked about the delayed premier of The Game of Thrones Season 7, the creators said that it will add more to the setting as ‘winter has come’. Anyway, we now know about the patronage of Jon Snow and we are pretty sure that he will know it as well in the upcoming season. He still thinks that he is the illegitimate son on Ned Stark. As we know that he is the son of Rhaegar, he now has a better claim over the Iron Throne than Daenerys. We might expect a full Stark reunion and that will be a sight for sore eyes. That will be a moment to relish and to enjoy as the most cataclysmic family of Westeros will been seen together once again. Sansa, who took help from Littlefinger in order defeat Ramsay, is now indebted to him. She knows what kind of a person Littlefinger she surely not yield to his evil plans. Arya, after killing Walder Frey is heading towards Winterfell and she might encounter Melisandre (whose name is on her kill-list as well). Melisandre has been banished by Jon Snow for burning Shireen and she’s been ordered to leave the north. As Tyrion will be back in Westeros, Jaimie will have to choose between him and Cersei. On one hand, Jaime is angry with Tyrion for killing Tywin and on the other hand, Cersei has gone crazy and Jaime is not happy about it. On one side, Cersei will bring the downfall to Westeros and on the other, Daenerys wants to reclaim the Iron Throne to her family’s name. Hence, we can expect a battle between Daenerys and Cersei. Thus, Jaime’s decision of choosing sides will be a crucial one. Gendry, the bastard son of Robert Baratheon is nowhere to be seen. Speculations of his return are quite adamant. As per many Reddit users, he will have an important role to play in the upcoming season. Daenerys will face Euron Greyjoy who is intended on raping and killing her. Speculations also reveal that one of her three dragons will die as well. Not much is known about the previous rulers of the Seven Kingdoms and so, we will be noticing flashbacks that will tell us about Aerys and why and how Jaime killed him. People think that Aerys raped Lyanna but there surely is more to the story than that. The White Walkers are assembling and are ready to enter Westeros. Therefore, the Wall will fall and the walkers will enter into Westeros at some point in the seventh season. Bran will play a key role in the White Walker invasion as he is the Three Eyed Raven. It has also been quite long since we have seen Samwell Tarly. The last time he was seen was when he stole his family sword and ran away with the wildling, Gilly. Surely, his father will be quite pissed off and will come after him to get his hands on Sam and take back the family-sword.
Game of Thrones Season 7 will be based on George R. R. Martin’s two unpublished novels, but sadly these two novels will be the last ones in the series; the series will end after the 8th season. Fans are thrilled to know how the plot will unravel and how the mystery will unfold. Can’t wait for more? Neither can we. Let us just hope that everything good is about to happen (though that sounds totally clichéd and Game of Thrones is not that place where clichés hold a place). Anyway, ‘winter has come’ and it has brought plenty of eerie things with it. Valar Morghulis.
